Christian Appalachian Project Collects 8,556 Pounds of Food During Annual Hunger Walk
APPALACHIA – (Sept. 26, 2023) Christian Appalachian Project’s (CAP) Grateful Bread Food Pantry partnered with local schools, businesses, and community organizations to spotlight food insecurity in Eastern Kentucky through the annual Hunger Walk which is held each September as part of Hunger Action Month. This year’s event collected 8,566 pounds of food which will be used to help families in need in CAP’s service area.
Christian Appalachian Project and Appalachia Service Project Partner to Build 10 New Homes
FISTY, Ky. (July 26, 2023) – Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman joined Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) and Appalachia Service Project (ASP) to recognize the one-year anniversary of historic flooding in the area. Generous donations to CAP created an opportunity to partner with ASP to build new homes for 10 families. The $250,000 grant will help families, primarily located in Floyd and Knott Counties, get back into homes that are safe, warm, and dry.
Christian Appalachian Project recognized as Eastern Kentucky Hero by SOAR
APPALACHIA – (May 2, 2023) Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) was recognized as an Eastern Kentucky Hero during the first Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) Eastern Kentucky Gala April 29. CAP received the honor alongside other regional organizations and individuals for its ongoing recovery efforts in Eastern Kentucky after historic flooding devastated the region last summer.
Christian Appalachian Project Works to Meet Needs of Arkansas Tornado Survivors
PINE BLUFF, Ark. – (April 17, 2023) The news cycle moves at the speed of light, but families recovering from natural disasters are still struggling to put their lives back together. Christian Appalachian Project's (CAP) Operation Sharing program sent two tractor trailer loads of clothing, water, food, and other essential items to devastated communities in Arkansas. The storm outbreak across several southern and midwestern states led to 50 tornado reports that left death and destruction in its wake.

WDKY FOX56 named 2022 Philanthropist of the Year
LEXINGTON, Ky. – (Nov. 15, 2022) Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) selected WDKY FOX56, as their 2022 Philanthropist of the Year during the National Philanthropy Day celebration. The station, owned and operated by Nexstar Media Group, was recognized for leading fundraising efforts to help families devastated by historic flooding in Eastern Kentucky in July 2022. This annual event is hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
