Willie Testimonial
“When I came home, to be honest, I was speechless. I got to meet some of the volunteers. They didn’t know me, but they did everything they could; they put their heart and soul into it.”
—Willie Owen
Elderly Home Repair
Seniors who live in unimaginable poverty and deteriorating homes that may lack running water or electricity receive home repair assistance. Staff and volunteer teams make sure the elderly in Appalachia live in safe, warm, dry, and accessible homes.
Accessibility
Seniors and people living with disabilities in Appalachia often require repair assistance to make their homes safe and accessible. CAP’s home repair teams and volunteers provide crucial labor for those in need.
YouthFest
In March and April of each year, YouthFest volunteer programming becomes an alternative spring break for high school students who want to spend a meaningful week being of service in Appalachia.
WorkFest
Each spring, the Housing Program conducts an intensive, volunteer-supported home repair project called WorkFest. It’s a mission-based alternative to the traditional spring break for college students with a heart to serve.
Summer Camp
A week at camp can make a difference for a child in need. Fun activities, supportive guidance, and friendship give boys and girls much-needed joy and confidence.
Disaster Relief
Catastrophes affect people living in poverty even harder. Disaster Relief provides immediate assistance during floods, tornadoes, storms, and other emergencies.
