Group Hospitality
Groups Facilitators increase volunteer capacity by helping to host one-week volunteer groups that serve in our home repair programs. Responsibilities may include cooking, cleaning, conducting orientation, and facilitating and developing evening programming.
Youth Empowerment
Youth Empowerment: Our Youth Empowerment educators provide a wide range of services for youth and teens, include classroom assistance, tutoring, afterschool activities, and leadership development. During the summer, you’ll help lead residential or day camp programming.
In-Home Respite
Provide in-home care for individuals with disabilities and much-needed respite for their primary caregivers. You may assist with bathing, feeding, and implementing activities that encourage recreation, socialization, and independence.
Family Advocacy
Connect individuals and families with needed resources such as utility assistance, school supplies, and clothing as an AmeriCorps member in CAP's Family Advocacy program. You’ll build relationships and help struggling families meet basic needs.
Elderly Services
Help Appalachian seniors access critical transportation, services, nutrition, and medical care. You’ll give hope to seniors living in social isolation through personal companionship, seasonal group activities, and general everyday support.
Hunger Relief
Help fight food insecurity by providing food assistance to low-income families and community members. You’ll assist pantry recipients, pack backpacks for local school children, and distribute commodity boxes to the elderly.
Home Repair
Substandard housing is the most visible sign of poverty in Appalachia. As a Home Repair Crew Member, you’ll assist the crew leader in home repairs and new construction and help to lead the many mission groups who serve with us throughout the year.
Early Education
Teach in our Child and Family Development Center and help preschoolers with cognitive, social, physical, and emotional development. You’ll help children learn the skills needed to be ready for Kindergarten and future academic success.
