Family Life Counseling staff help make counseling conference a success

Mental health professionals from across the state are participating in the annual Kentucky Counseling Association (KCA) conference Nov. 8-10. Dale Hamilton, a counselor with Christian Appalachian Project’s (CAP) Family Life Counseling Services (FLCS), is KCA president.
CAP names 2023 Philanthropists of the Year
LEXINGTON, Ky. – (Nov. 8, 2022) Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) selected Shanna and John Elliott and Pat Huff as their 2023 Philanthropists of the Year during the National Philanthropy Day celebration. The family was recognized for more than 20 years of generous support of CAP’s mission of building hope, transforming lives, and sharing Christ’s love through service in Appalachia. This annual event is hosted by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Christian Appalachian Project announces RISE and Shine Campaign
APPALACHIA – (Oct. 19, 2023) Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) announced the public phase of a three-year $95 million transformative campaign. This effort will allow CAP to be mindful of the immediate opportunities to grow and to discern the best way to continue to offer comprehensive services to people navigating the challenges poverty creates in Appalachia.

award recognizes individuals and organizations that have had a positive, long-term impact in

Christian Appalachian Project Collects 8,556 Pounds of Food During Annual Hunger Walk
APPALACHIA – (Sept. 26, 2023) Christian Appalachian Project’s (CAP) Grateful Bread Food Pantry partnered with local schools, businesses, and community organizations to spotlight food insecurity in Eastern Kentucky through the annual Hunger Walk which is held each September as part of Hunger Action Month. This year’s event collected 8,566 pounds of food which will be used to help families in need in CAP’s service area.
CAP Counselor Appointed President of Kentucky Counseling Association

Dale Hamilton, a licensed professional counselor with Christian Appalachian Project’s (CAP) Family Life Counseling Services, is the new president of the Kentucky Counseling Association (KCA).
KCA is a statewide organization for professional clinical and school counselors. The association builds and fosters relationships throughout the state to provide a sense of mentoring between professionals, as well as helping with referrals and consultations that impact Eastern Kentucky.

Hunger Walks Among Us

You never know who’s battling hunger. In Appalachia, 1 in 5 people face food insecurity which impacts far too many children, their families, and seniors in the region each year. September is Hunger Action Month, and Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) is raising awareness about food insecurity in Appalachia through the organization’s annual Hunger Walk event.
This year through Hunger Walk, CAP hopes to collect 25,000 pounds of food and raise $19,700, which represents the 19.7% of people in Appalachia facing food insecurity.
