Community Volunteering

You can provide vital support to your neighbors as a Community Volunteer. What might that look like? Once a week: steaming clothes and packing backpacks with food for children. Once a month: packing commodities for seniors. Seasonally: cooking for Mission Groups, volunteering at camp, serving at the Christmas Store, and construction projects. One-Year: Full time, join our Volunteer Corps. When disaster strikes: as part of the Disaster Relief Team providing immediate assistance to areas in Appalachia suffering from major catastrophes.

Community Volunteering: Overview

In order to decide the best fit for community volunteers we first ask how much time they plan on volunteering and if they are looking for a part-time or full-time opportunities. Each of our programs in Rockcastle, McCreary, Jackson, Johnson, and Floyd, and Fayette Counties have different needs and this helps us connect your gifts to the program that will best utilize them. Please email us at volunteer@chrisapp.org and tell us about yourself so that we can get to know you and get you connected!

Community Volunteering: Disaster Relief

When our Disaster Relief Program has been activated we are in need of people to help organize behind the scenes, distribute goods, make assessments, and muck out houses and buildings. The most important skill for these volunteers is flexibility and patience as each disaster response is unique and requires different approaches. Interested in joining us? Please email us at volunteermanagement@chrisapp.org to get started!
