WorkFest 2011...Rain, Rain and More Rain

Well WorkFest is in full swing! Currently we are in the midst of Week 3, our last week. It has been a busy and exhausting last couple of weeks, but our crew has gotten a lot of work done and I've gotten to meet some amazing people over the last few weeks. Out of the 8 work days over the last two weeks, our crew has really only been able to go out to our work-site for about 5 of those days due to the heavy abundance of rain lately. Yet, our groups from week 1 and 2 have accomplished a lot! We started out week 1 with just a block foundation and we have ended week two with all the exterior and interior walls up and the joists set for the roof. So we are making great progress. The project we are working on is a two bedroom addition, so currently we have no inside work, so when it does rain all day we are forced to find work elsewhere. Some of our others tasks have been heading up to Mountain Christian Academy, which is the building CAP is renovating to become the new site for volunteer groups and WorkFest. This has been great because the groups have pretty much completed all of the demolition at the building and there is a lot of progress being made, which is very exciting. One day this past week our group also headed up to Camp Shawnee, which is one of CAP's summer camps. We painted the dining hall, as well as the kitchen and even put up some new drywall in one of the hallways. So Camp Shawnee is definitely looking good!

As week 3 approaches I'm praying for very little rain and a good end to WorkFest 2011! Hopefully I will have some pictures on here by the end of next week!
