Week 3- Pink Awesome
Well on Friday morning we finished up our last week of WorkFest at Camp Caleb. Honestly I can't believe WorkFest is over already. It seems like we were just getting ready for it and now its all over. But week 3 was a great end to WorkFest. The Pink team or now Pink Awesome had a crew of 13, which was a fairly large group and at times it was hard to make sure everyone was keeping busy since we were nearing the tail end of our project. Yet, we managed to finish a lot of work such as completing most of the siding, trimming 3 windows, ripping up a kitchen floor and putting a new one in and building a new deck. As a result the trailer looks nothing like it did during week one and our participant, Jane, was very happy with all the work that went on and she really enjoyed meeting another group of students.
So needless to say after all the schools left Friday morning I was pretty beat from 3 weeks of craziness. But it was a good kind of tired and I really enjoyed my time at WorkFest, which was a different experience for me because this was the first year I was an assistant crew leader while in previous years I was just one of the students. And there is a big difference between the two, which I soon quickly realized that it was my job to make sure everyone had a job to do and was busy so there was a lot of running around. But by the third week it was a lot easier than day one of WorkFest.
As for this weekend I spent most of it catching up on sleep and laundry. But on Saturday the Floyd House did make a trip to Lexington because we had to drop off one of our short-term volunteers at the airport. Hannah was here for about a month and a half as a volunteer in the Child and Family Development Center. So it was sad to see her leave because I felt like I had just picked her up at the airport, but we all have a feeling she will be coming back very soon.
