Volunteering is fun!
This past week was a really good week for me. On Monday we continued to put up more siding but with it raining off and on it caused us to work a little slower and we did eventually move inside because of the rain. Monday night included a fun devotion by Rachel W. (one of our new long term volunteers). We got to do some painting and added a quote to our living room wall- “Life happens best in community”. Tuesday included a long day of ripping up floors that were in pretty bad shape and repairing the joists underneath them. And then Tuesday night we had our monthly volunteer gathering at Mountain Community Fellowship. Harold, our volunteer life manager, started this monthly fellowship back in October and it really is a great time to get everyone on the Sandy Valley side of CAP together. At this gathering Harold and his family prepared dinner for all of the volunteers and then we had praise and worship which was led by Caitlin and some of the youth members of Mountain Community Fellowship. Afterwards we got to do a small group activity and shared some of our thoughts with one another.
The rest of this week we continued working on the floors in our participants house and she was happy that they were becoming flat and no longer had a large drop in the middle. This past weekend we got quite a bit of snow, the most I've seen since I've gotten here. So all day Saturday we were snowed in and we watched lots of movies, baked some cookies and went sledding. This morning was also an adventure trying to get out for church. Our driveway at Floyd House is a hill and it can get pretty slippery, but we all made it out okay.
"Give away your life; you'll find life given back, but not merely given back-given back with bonus and blessing." Luke 6:38
Below are some pictures from some of the work we did this week and there is also a link to a video of myself and Tamara (a short term volunteer) dancing as we were waiting for some siding to be cut and trying to stay warm in the cold rain.
