Tis the Season

By Kate Stefanowicz

Since this past week was the first week back after Thanksgiving it was pretty hard to get up on Monday morning. Luckily Monday was a slow day due to rain and our crew leaders had a meeting in the morning. Therefore I was able to slowly ease into this week. Tuesday was Rachel's birthday (my housemate), and we had a celebration at Johnson House(another volunteer house) because it was also MaryAnn's birthday(who lives at Johnson House). As for the weekend, we were determined to decorate our house for Christmas, which we were successful at. We found a Christmas tree and also lined our hallway with Christmas lights. So between Christmas decorations and the snow we got Saturday morning it is definitely starting to feel like the Christmas season in Kentucky. Saturday night also included a Christmas party at the David School volunteer house. The David School is another volunteer organization and there are currently two volunteers living in their volunteer house, so we have become good friends with them. As the week comes to an end I always look forward to Sundays because of church in the morning and then just relaxing for the rest of the afternoon. Yet, since Christmas season is upon us, I find myself keeping busy with decorating or searching for Christmas presents and sometimes I tend to forget the whole meaning of Christmas. Therefore lately I've been trying to remind myself of the meaning of Christmas and to not get caught up in society's version of Christmas.

Let the light of Your face shine upon us, Oh Lord! - Psalms 4:6
