Team Awesome!!!!
Another great week of WorkFest was completed on Friday. During our 2nd week at the Camp Caleb site we completed a lot of work on our participants' home. We took out 6 windows and put in 6 new ones. We also ripped off almost all of her old siding and put up new sheeting and the whole front of her trailer is almost all sided with new vinyl siding. We also began to put up underpinning on the trailer and got her kitchen ready for some new paint.
This week's Pink team was from all over: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and New Hampshire. It's really so cool to see the transformation of the group from day 1 to the last day. Usually day 1 is spent getting to know one another and remembering names but by Thursday night everyone is so close and it seems like we've all been friends forever. It's really a cool experience and one that I really enjoy. On Thursday night at Camp Caleb we invite the families that we have been working on their houses and they come for dinner and then we perform skits or jingles for them based upon our week. So this week I was determined to win the jingle contest because this is my third WorkFest and my team has never won. So with the help of one of the other crew leaders we came up with an awesome jingle and we did end up wining the contest, which was very exciting for both myself and my team.
Our pink team this week also got to know Jane (our participant) very well and they all fell in love with her . It was great to see her up and walking Thursday afternoon, because she hasn't been feeling too well lately. But she made it out on her steps to even take a picture with this week's group, which was awesome and she also loved all her new siding and was ecstatic to see the progress that we were making.
This week was another awesome week and I thank everyone on the Pink team for such a great experience and for getting the opportunity to work with them. You are all great people and have many gifts to share. Thank you Team Awesome!!!!
