Summer camp and long-term volunteers needed

Are you called to the mountains? Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) has an urgent need for compassionate, mission-driven individuals to serve for three or more weeks at our summer camps. We are also seeking volunteers to serve for one year, beginning this August.

CAP's summer camps serve nearly 1,000 children each year from Appalachian Kentucky. Our camps provide a safe and fun environment where children, ages 6 to 15, participate in activities such as hiking, camping, swimming, field games, praise and worship, arts and crafts, and more. Through play and group interaction, campers learn important life skills such as leadership, safety, team building, self-esteem, and respect for others. We need summer camp volunteers to serve as counselors, lifeguards, medical personnel, office helpers, kitchen helpers, and social media coordinators. Volunteers are needed to serve three or more consecutive weeks (one week for medical personnel), June 6 – July 29.

Long-term volunteering is ideal for recent graduates, retirees, and everyone in between. Volunteers serve in Eastern Kentucky in programs addressing issues of poverty, education, substandard housing, hunger, and more. Volunteers may choose to live in one of our intentional Christian communities or live independently. Long-term volunteers receive a modest stipend, health insurance, an AmeriCorps Education Award (when available), and potential student loan deferment. Long-term volunteering with CAP is a transformative experience, with opportunities for spiritual growth, professional development, and vocational discernment. Join us to build hope, transform lives, and share Christ’s love through service in Appalachia.
