Appalachian Media Institute was created 34 years ago and teaches Appalachian youth media production skills. During a paid program every summer, interns from diverse backgrounds collaborate on documentaries exploring local community issues, providing their own unique perspective. The program is college accredited, with 80% of participants continuing to college.
