Originally I wasn't going to post anything on my blog for this week because I felt like I had nothing of importance to write about. But then on a kind of spur of the moment decision I was voted to do devotion on Monday because no one had signed up to do it. This was fine with me, so I just decided to do something simple, a reading out of my daily devotional. As I was reading the devotion for today I realized it was truly something I needed to hear, especially after the day of work. Of course it was Monday, so it's always hard to get up at 6 A.M. on Monday, and of course my alarm didn't go off and I woke up late and ended up rushing to get to the office in the morning. The day went on and it seemed as if nothing was going smoothly. We were installing kitchen cabinets and I couldn't get the screws to go in and then we set the counter top and realized it was too short on one end and too long on the other. So to me everything seemed to be going wrong and nothing was going right.  A little later on in the day I was standing in the kitchen waiting for Tony (my crew leader) to bring the counter top in when I overheard our participant on the phone. She was talking to a friend about how great her new kitchen was and how it used to be her least favorite room in the house and now it's her favorite room. She was going on about how she loved the floor, the cabinets and the counter tops. After hearing this it kind of put me back in the right mind set of why I was here at CAP. I was here to serve the Lord and do his work. It was tonight's devotional that really brought it home. The devotional was about keeping God present in our lives and remembering him in everything we do. Now I have to admit it is very hard for me to do this. I very easily get stuck in a routine or involved in what I'm doing and forget the real reason why I'm here and whom I'm working for. And for me it's the daily devotions that usually help me get back on track and talking with my housemates about how easy it is to get sidetracked from the reason why we are here.
