Family Appreciation
Each Thursday at both WorkFest sites, CAP holds a Family Appreciation night where we invite the participant families to join the students and CAP volunteers and staff for supper. Each crew gets the opportunity to share what they did that week on the jobsite, and participants may also speak if they'd like. Last night, one participant treated us all to her beautiful voice and guitar playing. She was very appreciative of the work the students had accomplished, and it was clear the students had grown attached to her in just the short time they'd spent working on her house.
Each crew also presents a Bible to the homeowners signed by everyone on the crew (pictured above). I know each family cherishes this gift as a reminder of the fact that students from as far away as Minnesota chose to spend their spring break in Kentucky. They always remember that people loved them so much that they would give up spring break to help a stranger.
Another week of WorkFest is in the books, and we miss the students already. Next week, WorkFest will finish up at Camp AJ and be in full swing at Camp Caleb.
