MARTIN, Ky. – (August 9, 2022) Christian Appalachian Project’s (CAP) Disaster Relief Program has opened a distribution center at 6134 KY-80 in Martin, Kentucky. The center will provide essential items like cleaning supplies, water, and diapers to local residents impacted by recent flooding. 
 
“We know that families will have both immediate needs and long-term needs,” said Robyn Renner, CAP’s director of the Disaster Relief Program. “These are desperate times for some residents who lost everything. We are working with community partners to ensure that people don’t have to worry about how to take care of their families while dealing with this traumatic situation.”
 
The distribution center will be open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at the center as well – NO USED CLOTHING. Needed items include new towels, new sheets, new pillows, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, Dawn, shovels, 5-gallon buckets with bleach, scrub brushes, cleaning towels, disinfectant soap, dust masks, gloves, and heavy-duty garbage bags. First aid supplies, dehumidifiers, fans, children's medicines, and pain relievers are also needed. Gift cards to Walmart, Lowe’s, Dairy Queen, and McDonald’s are also being accepted. These cards are provided to residents who are displaced and temporarily living in shelters.
 
“We need volunteers to help with cleanup, distribute needed items to families, cook, and help in the volunteer lodging facility,” Renner added. “It’s going to take all of us coming together to meet the needs.
