Pine Bluff, AR (June 12, 2024) – Christian Appalachian Project’s (CAP) Operation Sharing program is partnering with Hurricane Outreach Distribution Center and New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church to provide toys, household items, snacks and more to families in the community.
 
Cars are expected to start lining up several hours before the drive thru community distribution which will be held at Golden Lion Stadium Parking Lot, 2200 North University Drive from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event is open to the public.
 
“For many individuals and families in Pine Bluff, access to essential resources such as food, clothing, and hygiene items may be limited,” said Derick Easter, pastor of New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church. “This distribution day provides an opportunity to address these basic needs directly, ensuring that vulnerable community members have access to essential supplies. It also helps our residents who are facing financial challenges experience temporary relief. This can help families to allocate their limited resources to other critical expenses such as housing, utilities, and healthcare.”
 
CAP’s Operation Sharing has been partnering in Pine Bluff for three years. “This year we brought three tractor trailer loads of toys. We will be giving away 6,000-8,000 toys to children during the Pine Bluff distribution today,” said Ben Ridner, manager of Operation Sharing in Corbin, Ky. “We will be giving away an additional 46,000 toys throughout the summer during our distributions in Kentucky.”
 
Operation Sharing, in conjunction with Good360 and Toys for Tots, is providing toys valued at $150. Other items slated for the distribution are valued at $400.
 
“We operate on partnerships like these, and the many churches that have joined to support this community effort,” Ridner added. “Out-of-state partnerships allow CAP to operate at a distance while helping people across all 13 Appalachian states, plus the two Ozark states of Arkansas and Missouri. It would be almost impossible for us to do our job without these partners. Our overall goal is to help as many people as we can.”
