ST. ALBANS, WV (July 24, 2026) – In response to the severe storms, flooding, and related damage across the state, Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) is working closely with regional distribution partner Community Bridge to quickly get a tractor-trailer load of emergency relief supplies to affected West Virginia communities. 

“When communities are facing the aftermath of flooding and severe weather, a quick and coordinated response matters," said Jennifer Stolo, President & CEO of Christian Appalachian Project. “CAP is grateful for essential partners like Community Bridge who help us understand conditions on the ground so we can move critical supplies where they will have the greatest impact. We are committed to standing alongside our neighbors in West Virginia as response and recovery efforts continue." 

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey has declared a state of emergency for all 55 counties as severe weather continues to affect communities. Some of the hardest hit areas include Lewis, Upshur, Barbour and Randolph counties.

CAP’s regional distribution partner, Community Bridge, in St. Albans, WV, continues to receive requests for disaster relief supplies. Community Bridge will work with local churches, agencies, and organizations to get these critical supplies to areas hit hard by recent flooding.

"These supplies will help us respond to incoming requests and make sure essential supplies are available as needs continue to emerge. We are grateful for our partnership with Christian Appalachian Project to get these urgently needed supplies to areas hit hardest by the recent storms.” 

Through Christian Appalachian Project Operation Sharing, the organization's distribution services, CAP provides assistance to communities across all 13 Appalachian states, as well as the Ozark states of Missouri and Arkansas. In addition to ongoing support, CAP mobilizes emergency relief supplies following natural disasters to help communities begin the long road to recovery. 

CAP staff remain in close communication with Community Bridge and the President of West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster to gather additional situational awareness, identify emerging needs, and provide additional assistance as response and recovery efforts continue.
