APPALACHIA – (June 27, 2026) Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) is closely monitoring the flash flooding that has created dangerous and devastating situations in several Kentucky communities. Governor Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency to deploy resources, protect residents, and prioritize safety in the days to come.  

“CAP is here to support our neighbors and stand with communities during times of crisis like the flooding we have seen this weekend,” said CAP President & CEO Jennifer Stolo. “As conditions become safe, CAP will work in coordination with local partners, emergency responders, and community leaders to assess needs and respond where we are called.” 

Many roads across the state are flooded and cannot be accessed, numerous bridges have been wiped out, and many churches and homes have been destroyed by rushing flood waters. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life already reported and extend concern and support to all families, communities, and first responders affected by this storm. Please continue to keep Appalachia in your prayers. 

“CAP will be addressing immediate needs such as food, supplies, and emergency assistance, and serving families in the days, weeks, and months ahead as they recover and rebuild,” Stolo said. “CAP remains committed to being present for the long term, helping restore stability, hope, and a sense of normalcy for people impacted by flooding.”
