CAP Opens Command Center to Assist Flood Victims

MARTIN, Ky. – (August 1, 2022) Christian Appalachian Project's (CAP) Disaster Relief Program has set up a Command Center in Floyd County at our Foley Mission Center, 6134 KY-80, Martin, Kentucky. CAP will begin assessing the damage August 1 and cleanup will begin soon after.

“We need volunteers to assess properties, begin cleanup, help sort and distribute needed items to families, cook, and help in the volunteer lodging facility,” said Becky Neuenschwander, coordinator of the command center and manager of CAP’s Mission Groups Program for volunteers. “The devastation covers so many counties, we are going to need help to provide assistance to families in need.”

If you are willing to help with flood relief, CAP has a place for you. Please send an email with your name and/or the name of your group, contact information, and your availability to bneuenschwander@chrisapp.org. She will get back to you with additional details.

“We are going to all need a lot of prayers in these weeks and months to come,” Neuenschwander added. “Please keep these families as well as those responding to flood victims in your prayers.”

Donations can also be dropped off at these CAP locations. Immediate needs include water, cleaning supplies, and gift cards. No clothing is being accepted at this time.
