Building More Than Porches
Joseph first came to CAP’s summer camp at age 14. When he arrived, he wasn’t sure if he would fit in … but that feeling quickly changed as counselors and campers welcomed him, inviting him to join activities and making him feel included. He describes the experience as an “instant click,” and says CAP felt more like home than any other camp he had attended.
Inspired by the kindness he experienced, Joseph decided to become a junior counselor (JC). He wants to be the kind of mentor he once needed, a friend to those who might feel left out. Now in his second year as a JC, he is focused on helping others feel the same Joseph now participates in service projects, spending his spring break building porches for people in need. He enjoys working with his hands, but more importantly, values helping his neighbors. Joseph said, “Seeing them smile and feel blessed as much as I do is a great feeling to have.”
Thank you for supporting CAP’s Youth Empowerment Service (YES) and for helping kids like Joseph grow into compassionate young adults. You can give again today at ChristianApp.org.
