Hunger Relief

A Full Plate and a Full Heart

Cara* is the proud mom of five little boys with, as she puts it, an explosive amount of energy. Recently, Cara’s mom fell ill, so her parents moved into her already crowded home.

To support this full house, Cara works three 12-hour overnight shifts each week at a nursing home. By any measure, she is a busy young woman. But as food pantry coordinator Jenny Parker said, “She always comes in with an upbeat attitude and shares about the positives in her life.”

It’s thanks to friends like you that Cara can turn to the local CAP food pantry for help putting food on the table for her big family. Through your support, families like hers have ready access to free, fresh, nutritious groceries. This means Cara’s growing boys can count on healthy and balanced meals to keep their energy up at home and at school.

“She is so conscientious about what she feeds her children,” Jenny said. “She brings home good food from the pantry, saying, ‘I’m grateful I can put a full plate in front of my children.’”

Looking ahead, Cara hopes to become a nurse someday so she can build an even better future for her family. We’ll be honored to continue serving her as she pursues this goal … and we know you’ll be right there at her side, too.
