Volunteering time and talents is a great way to make a difference in people’s lives, make friends, visit new places, understand different cultures and learn more about yourself. CAP offers a variety of different volunteer experiences that fit most any need and interest.
Long Term Volunteering
A long-term CAP volunteer is one that is available to dedicate nine months or longer of their time and talents. While no special skills are required for most positions, training for some programs is necessary and personal interviews with the Volunteer Program staff are required.
Short Term Volunteering
Short-term volunteering ranges anywhere from dedicating three weeks to eight months of time at CAP. Often potential long-term volunteers commit as short-term volunteers first to see if CAP is a good fit.
Summer Camp
Every year, CAP offers two summer camp programs, Camp Andrew Jackson and Camp Shawnee. They provide a rewarding week of learning and fun to more than 1,000 Appalachian children. The camps serve those who could otherwise not afford the opportunity to attend a summer camp, and many children look forward to it as their only vacation during the year.
Community Volunteering
Community volunteering is geared towards Kentucky residents who live in the areas surrounding CAP’s facilities and are not able to dedicate specified lengths of time to volunteering.
Volunteer Application
