Adult Education

Adult Education programs offer GEDs, literacy instruction, job readiness, vocational and college testing to individuals ages 17-80 years of age in their home (School-on-Wheels) and in the Adult Education Center.

Historically, there has always been a direct correlation between poverty and high drop out rates from schools. In the majority of CAP’s service areas, less than 50% of the head-of-households have a high school education. CAP strongly believes that education is key for families to rise above the poverty line and develop the skills and resources they need to be self-sufficient.

Because of CAP’s commitment to adult education, a significant percentage of available donations each fiscal year is allocated to programs that help people increase their educational levels and learn new skills. The Adult Education/School On Wheels program provides classes on literacy and GED in both classroom settings and the homes of individuals who are unable to travel. Parents whose children are enrolled in CAP Child Development Centers participate in activities geared toward family literacy and educational growth.
