CAP Aids Tennessee Tornado Victims, Sends Vital Supplies
Macon County, Tennessee - one of the hardest hit counties by the February 4th string of tornadoes that were so destructive, the entire nation was on alert. This small, close-knit Appalachian County had close to 200 homes that were completely destroyed and hundreds more that were damaged. The devastation is so bad, access to the area is restricted only to the National Guard and federal and state workers.
CAP's Disaster Relief Program has been invited in to assist with clean-up efforts as soon as the restriction is lifted, hopefully by February 16 or 17. CAP will then head for Macon County with a team that Disaster Relief Program Director, Sherry Buresh, is in the process of forming.
Meanwhile, CAP will send three semi-tractor trailers filled with essential supplies to Tennessee’s VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) warehouse, where they will be distributed to affected communities.
Once the group is in Tennessee, they will stay for two weeks, or longer if possible.
Your support for our efforts is essential! Please consider making a donation to help those affected by the tornados. And as always, your prayers are appreciated and mean so much to us and to those we serve.
