Camp Andrew Jackson

Each year, hundreds of students participated in school-year educational programs presented by Camp Andrew Jackson.

Camp Andrew Jackson VolunteersSchool age children eagerly participate in the ‘hands on’ approach to learning built into all of the activities at Camp Andrew Jackson. Camp staff provide a variety of educational programs in which children learn about geography, diversity, science, problem solving, and communication.

In collaboration with the Rockcastle Youth and Teen Center, special programming on leadership development is provided throughout the year for teens.Through activities and weeklong camps, teens gain an increased awareness of their unique skills, learn effective methods of communication, and develop skills in teamwork and collaboration.

For six weeks each summer, the yells and laughter of children echo around the hills and lake at Camp Andrew Jackson as they swim, canoe, hike, make crafts, play, and participate in Bible school. For the many summer CAP volunteers who work as counselors, one of the highlights of the week is the awards ceremony on Friday. With all the children and counselors gathered together, each child receives a certificate recognizing something special about themselves. Whether it’s an award for ‘best smile’ or ‘bravest’ for overcoming their fear of water, it’s a time for recognizing and celebrating each individual child.
