Dear Friend of Christian Appalachian Project,
Another year has passed and it is my pleasure to offer you this report on the impact your gifts made through Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) in 2007. Last year was a year like no other, as we experienced healthy growth and development throughout the organization, and we positioned the ministry for advancement in the future. Most importantly, we continued to positively impact the lives of those we serve.
Throughout this report, we have offered a sampling of stories and information relative to our work with children, the elderly, and the disabled this past year. Let me be the first, however, to say that 2007 was a year of many blessings. Donor gifts and other revenues were at an all time high. Our long term and short term volunteers continued to increase dramatically, and a record number of churches and other groups from across the country were engaged in home repair and other services in central Appalachia through CAP.
As planned, we began construction of the fully-funded Sandy Valley (KY) Respite Center designed to support the elderly and disabled populations. We also launched our CAP Kids program which targets inspiring at-risk children to achieve their fullest potential. For the future, we are making plans to expand Operation Sharing, our church and community partner sharing program, by opening additional outreach warehouses in Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennessee. We are very excited about some developing partnerships with churches, both regionally and nationally, and we are exploring the potential to develop a church retreat center in Central Appalachia. And finally, we will continue to focus on growing and strengthening the core of our ministry, our Hands-On services, through increased volunteerism.
As always, when I reflect upon the accomplishments of the year just ended, and when I look to the lofty goals we have for the future, I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as your hands and feet, making a difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you for your continuing support.
Love in Christ,
Bill Mills
