cooper home

For Shawn we had a tremendous out pouring of support. Many of you were willing to take this young man into your lives and your homes. His story of nearly making it, on his own only to be thrust back into the clutches of poverty and despair was truly a heart wrenching ordeal for all who were watching. We are so pleased now to ease your worries about Shawn. Today he is settling comfortably into life as a college student at Union College in Southeast, Kentucky. We have delivered many boxes of school supplies, clothes and other necessities to Shawn. He is taking classes and training for his return to football. His first season on the field will not begin until 2010 because of eligibility, but Shawn is optimistic about his new academic and athletic opportunities.

Between your gifts and his support network at Union College Shawn is doing well. All made possible through your kindness and caring. Shawn has been very blessed by your outpouring of love and support. Thank you, again for helping us re-open the door to Shawn’s future.

We do serve many other children and young adults like Shawn in our programs and services. We have a program geared toward encouraging success beyond high school. Through an enrichment program called CAP Kids that begins in elementary school and supports children through high school, we show kids the many possibilities and opportunities all around them, available for anyone with the desire to “go for it;” colleges, universities, manufacturing facilities and large corporations, culture experiences like plays and concerts, even zoos. This type of eye-opening journey can be the thing that inspires a child to succeed, to reach for what once was never even considered an option. For the many children that don’t have a talent for football, CAP Kids can provide a view of the potential beyond their front doors, and hope after high school. keep up the good work that you are doing and may God bless all of you who work so hard pulling all the resources together to help. Understand an agency in Bossier City, Louisiana donated, thru Feed The Children, 3 truck loads of assorted items to you to distribuate thru the area you serve. Would be nice to see something online about this act.
